The balancing act between economic recovery and limiting the spread of COVID-19 is on full display as we head into the first real week of summer. You know, the week after Memorial Day where we have historically celebrated the end of school year, high school and college graduations, and the promise of a new season of change. The past two months have taught how powerless we are over so many conditions that we constantly struggle against. To quote the great Socrates, the classical Greek philosopher credited as one of the founders of Western philosophy, “The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing”.  Well, I think we all understand Socrates’ words after months of guessing “what happens next?”.

At The Blackledge Group, we are happy to be “back at it” and working hard to feed the economic engine as it fires up and begins the journey back to full throttle. We have been blessed, as an essential business, to work through the shutdown. We have learned going to work means putting on our boots, hard hats and masks and working hand in hand while “six feet apart”.

Many of our clients are moving to a remote working environment and leaving the office behind. They have learned that productivity is not dependent on working from a company office. We are currently working with several clients to assist with the development of remote-working corporate policies and programs. Our facilities management team is assisting clients in evaluating how to address safely re-occupying and operating their buildings and working with their tenants to address COVID 19 exposure issues. 

We have also completed a massive undertaking of HUD Part 58 documentation to assist a public housing agency migrate select properties to a different cost and operation model.

Bottom line – life continues, and some things are the same in the COVID-19 times as before – we get out of life what we put into life. We just need to learn to do it six feet apart.
